Belly Fusion was formed in 2006 and is comprised of seven members originally from a tribal bellydance class based in Worcestershire. The idea of performance first came about when they were asked to dance at a wedding reception. Since then the troupe has performed at many events, raised money for charity, taken part in breaking a world record and appeared on live television for Children In Need.
Belly Fusion's style began as predominately Improvised Tribal style, largely influenced by Fat Chance Bellydance' in San Francisco which is improvisational group dance. This improvised style remains a integral base for the troupe but has since grown and developed with experimentation using choreography and a range of other dance forms and theatrical influences.
The other styles that the BFDC use include:
GYPSY ~ TURKISH/EGYPTIAN CLASSICAL ~ CONTEMPORARY TRIBAL FUSION (and most recently) ~ STREET THEATRE, SWING AND JIVE.
Belly Fusion DC also utilise a variety of props such as Swords, Veils, Canes, Fans and Zills (Finger Cymbals). Also Pistols, Daggers and Tankards amongst other theamed paraphernalia.
Presently the performance group consists of seven dancers who meet regularly as part of a Tribal Bellydance troupe practice and have grown together not only as a dance troupe but as friends. All involved enjoy the unity and energy that the Tribal style provides. Aside from performing the troupe also enjoy watching other bellydancers, no matter what their style, and are continually inspired by fellow members of the bellydance community.
The BFDC actively seek to stretch and develop themselves as dancers by watching and participating in numerous dance styles (not necessarily exclusive to belly dance) during events, classes and workshops by other dancers and professionals.
